Summary: Studies have shown the influence of human actions on climate change, and as a result, environmental actions in compliance with the Paris Agreement have intensified. When it comes to emissions from waterway transport, studies focus on studying ships, and there is a gap in studies related to emissions from ports, which is essential given the entire chain involved. Considering the importance of the Port of Vitória, as the first private port authority in the country, this study aimed to prepare the inventory of greenhouse gases for the port, which is the first step towards understanding emissions. The GHG Protocol Brazil and the IPCC software were used as calculation tools, comparing the two and assessing their applicability. Using the GHG Protocol Brazil, the volume of emissions was 293 tCO2e and 13 tCO2 biogenic, while using the IPCC, the amount calculated was 385 tCO2e and 15 tCO2 biogenic, a difference of 93 tCO2e and 2 tCO2 biogenic, respectively. In general, the results show the same order of magnitude (10²) for both methodologies, but the GHG Protocol Brazil proved to be more suitable for corporate emissions inventories in Brazil.
