Summary: This dissertation examines the moderating effect of corruption on the relationship between ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) indicators and organizational performance. Corruption can seriously compromise the efficiency and transparency of companies and governments, negatively affecting investor confidence and corporate reputation. The study investigates how corruption impacts ESG components and the financial performance of companies from various sectors listed on stock exchanges in the ten largest economies in the world over the past five years. Secondary data from publicly traded companies were collected from financial reports and publicly available ESG scores for the analysis. The research applies regression models to examine the relationship between ESG indicators and financial performance, considering the moderating influence of corruption. Financial performance variables used include Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Tobin's Q. The findings indicate that corruption significantly moderates the relationship between ESG indicators and the financial performance of companies, negatively impacting the effectiveness of ESG practices. The research highlights the importance of anti-corruption policies and effective corporate governance to maximize the benefits of ESG initiatives and improve organizational performance.
