Summary: The important agenda of global warming has led the world to seek a lifestyle with less
carbon, and due to this guideline many countries have invested in alternatives to make
their energy matrix and industrial parks more sustainable by reducing the emission of
greenhouse gases. greenhouse effect. Going in this direction, the dissertation sought
to address the issue of energy efficiency of industrial processes already in operation,
as a more agile and financially less expensive solution to be implemented to achieve
the reduction in the desired emissions. To carry out the study, data were collected from
the process plant and utilities from thirteen offshore oil production platforms operating
on the Brazilian coast. With a methodology based on exergetic analysis, it was possible
to determine efficiency indicators, specific destroyed exergy and natural gas utilization
index. The efficiency results obtained on the platforms ranged from 80.0% to 99.3%,
for the worst and best conditions, respectively. Then, a comparative analysis was
carried out in these units, and it was verified that the traditional indicators do not meet
the complexities existing in this branch of the industry, and the application of indicators
based on exergy, is shown as the best alternative to measure energy performance.
Finally, the study resulted in the development of a tool with an online interface, through
a panel to monitor the updated performance of the operation, in order to support the
managers` quick decision-making regarding the energy expenditures of a platform.
