Summary: Since water scarcity is an arising problem in daily life, the adoption of technologies to
produce water from alternative sources became an alternative. This article aims to
assay the economic viability of the implementation of non-potable alternative sources
in large commercial buildings. An investment evaluation was carried out in a
deterministic manner and under risk conditions, with economic modeling of the water
and sewage tariff. As results, all the scenarios studied were considered economically
feasible. The evaluation under risk condition shows an underestimation of 8% of npv
and irr when compared with the deterministic evaluation. The scenario more
economically advantageous is the option that investment involving the three
alternative sources of water with greater storage of water
